Calypso St. Barth and Fairchild Baldwin teamed up for an exclusive line of suede collapsible totes. The initiative for the new line belonged to Jill Fairchild, who made the proposal in a fairly unusual way. Calypso president Stefanie DiRienzo-Smith told WWD that the collaboration started with one pretty pink bag: “She sent over a pink bag because she knew it was our brand’s color. And a note that said, ‘Buy this bag.’ Just kidding, but she mentioned the Daisy bag and she thought it would be great for our stores.”
The initiative proved incredibly persuasive and this is how the Calypso St. Barth and Fairchild Baldwin collection was born. “Accessories is and will always be an important assortment for our brand .We are always looking for an interesting collaboration,” revealed Calypso’s president. Why totes of all the handbag styles available? According to Calypso creative director Elisa Miller, it’s because these tend to be the best selling styles in the brand’s experience.
The Fairchild Baldwin for Calypso St. Barth collection has a summery vibe inspired by the array of ever changing colors of Calypso and features eight cute and ultra practical totes in delightful tones of ash, olive, purple, pistachio or rust. The Daisy bag collection features both large and mini sizes of the popular Daisy bag style. Both styles are hand-sewn in Italy and have Vaccheta leather handles. All the styles have a very discreet Fairchild Baldwin New York logo in the handles area.
The Daisy bag collection by Fairchild Baldwin is already available on the official Calypso St. Barth website. The large Daisy totes, which are 12″ wide and 14″ deep, retail for $425 while the Mini Daisy bags, which are 9.25″ wide and 10.25″ deep sell for $250. Though the prices might be a little bit steep, these bag are ultra versatile and can easily last a long time if properly cared for.
