“It was all about the proportion. Really working on a woman’s form,” said Phoebe Philo after the Céline show presented at Paris Fashion Week. Despite its minimalist, almost colorless approach, the Céline spring 2020 collection is powerful and credible featuring some stylish wearable silhouettes for daytime, casual looks. There were lots of modern designs that will undoubtedly become old-faithful classics.
Once again, the famous designer convinced everyone that simple, understated dressing can be utterly elegant and alluring. Relaxed silhouettes, clean lines and a subtle style as seen in the Céline show prove that you don’t need dazzling embellishments and colors in order to look chic. Moreover, it strongly confirms the idea that minimalism can indeed be a constant source of inspiration. There was an elegant take on this collection through cotton trench coats, wide 7/8ths pants, peplums which Philo called “basques”, cropped pants, tunics, pleated and pencil skirts, shirts and shirt dresses.
The color palette included black, white, red, burgundy, and forest green, but also color block used on a leather shell. Silhouettes are neat and simple, waists are high, and pants have extra wide legs. Models walked down the runway wearing chunky platforms with ankle straps and chic clutches complementing their ensembles.
