The Chanel fall 2020 collection brought one throught provoking outfit after another. With over 75 looks presented, the label sure channelled fashionistas’ attention with plenty of exciting elements and a myriad of unexpected combos. The new options were both in line with the label’s defining aesthetic motifs and with the season’s hottest styles and color trends. The line brought plenty of oversized coats, tweed pieces, geometric patterns, edgy proportions with a bit of rock chicness thrown in to spice things up.
The sense of drama was instilled from the very beginning, with dark tones, striking proportions, busy patterns and a clear desire to make a statement. The Chanel fall 2020 collection borrows plenty of elements from the boy-meets-girl aesthetics that has become super popular at this Paris Fashion Week 2020 edition. The label focused its attention mainly on black, gray, navy or white but still brought a few softer tones and patterns with a feminine allure. Still, the apparent lack of chromatic contrast was more than well compensated by the multitude of spectacular textural motifs.
Aside from the already traditional quilt patterns which aren’t an unexpected move given the label’s history, the conspicuous textural floral details are an entirely different story as they come to sweeten up the punk vibe of the looks without losing the slightest amount of edginess. The new Chanel fall 2020 collection is filled with contradictions: on the one hand, we’re seeing a fabulous set of pieces which fall right in line with the label’s defining options while on the other hand we’re seeing a new edgy direction with plenty of fab pieces worth analyzing.
As far as accessories are concerned, the pièce de résistance of the Chanel fall 2020 collection presented at this Paris Fashion were definitely the edgy above the knee boots with chain details, although the layered bracelets or edgy necklaces came a close second. Fingerless gloves were another interesting detail that helped emphasize Karl Lagerfeld’s exciting vision for the cold months to come.
