The return of an icon. This is how Calvin Klein announced that supermodel Christy Turlington will once again be featured in Calvin Klein Underwear’s advertising campaign. The 44-year-old mother-of-two replaces Lara Stone, who has been the brand’s for the past few seasons, and will appear in Calvin Klein’s fall 2020 ad campaign photographed by Mario Sorrenti on location in Vieques, Puerto Rico.
Well, Turlington has first worked with Calvin Klein in 1987. So, we can easily say that they have a long-lasting relationship of over 25 year. She appeared in many campaigns for the label including the one for their Eternity fragrance. Speaking about her new gig as, the famed supermodel told Harper’s Bazaar US that, “You know, I’m 44 years old, I’m not 14. I’m healthy, I haven’t done anything to myself, I exercise. But, I’m not entirely comfortable with myself in underwear either! Well, I did tell Calvin, with Eternity, ‘If you name something that and you put me on it, what the hell do you expect?’”
When she was just 19, Christy Turlington signed with Klein as the face of Eternity perfume and appeared in a well-known campaign shot by Irving Penn. “I love Calvin. He was a huge part of my career. He’d just married Kelly, and it was this whole new era. He told me when he asked me to do the campaign, ‘If I weren’t married already, I would have asked you!’? You know, I had five husbands with Eternity. Five!”, the supermodel recalls in the interview with Harper’s Bazaar.
Turlington was also featured in campaigns for Calvin Klein Underwear, Jeans, Swimwear, and their Contradiction fragrance. The fall 2020 ads made by famous fashion photographer and Pirelli Calendar alumni, Mario Sorrenti will only be revealed later this year. Well, until then, we have the chance to take a peek at only one snap. Other names who have fronted Calvin Klein campaigns include Brooke Shields, Kate Moss, Eva Mendes, Scarlett Johansson, and Diane Kruger.
