On 12 February 1947 Dior launched his landmark first fashion collection for the spring/summer season. Called ‘New Look’, after the editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar Carmel Snow’s exclamation “It’s such a New Look!”, the collection represented a turning point in women’s dress after the Second World War. Since then, Dior Haute Couture managed to remain the ultimate symbol of elegance and exquisiteness.

Now, we have the chance to see over one hundred incredible, dreamy gowns from the entire era of Christian Dior haute couture in the ‘Dior Couture’ Book lensed by famous French photographer Patrick Demarchelier, known for his amazing fashion portraits that grace the pages of Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, or Glamour.

The 240-page book includes stunning pieces designed by Dior himself and continuing with the oh-so-whimsical creations of his successors Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan and John Galliano. Speaking about the project, Demarchelier said that, “When you’re a fashion photographer, you must inspire a dream. With Dior Haute Couture, the dream is already there.”

Shot in beautiful locations like Shanghai, Times Square, New York, the grand staircase of the Paris Opera House, and the garden of the Musée Rodin, the ‘Dior Couture’ Book features famous top models like Gisele Bundchen, Karlie Kloss, Magdalena Frackowiak and Sasha Pivovarova, but also charming actress Charlize Theron. Artist Jeff Koons wrote the preface of the book that goes on sale starting November at £70/ $112/ €82.
