After quite a few fashion risks taken at the 2020 Teen Choice Awards and the 2020 MTV VMAs, the Emmy red carpet was a welcome return to glamor, dominated by bold shades of red and gorgeous white gowns, along with a surprise accessory.

White

The other contender for the top spot among the Emmys 2020 red carpet trends, white was also a big presence at Nokia Theatre, with the column dress being a favorite. The most memorable white looks include Michelle Monaghan in Giambattista Valli, Kristen Wiig in Vera Wang, and Anna Chlumsky in Zac Posen, while Sofia Vergara added a bit of drama to the all white look with a Roberto Cavalli gown with silver accents.

Metallics

Bringing even more sparkle to the 2020 Emmys, a few celebrities decides to go all out with shimmering metallics. Gwen Stefani chose a silver Atelier Versace two-piece look, which slightly hinted at the crop top trend, while Amy Poehler rocked a Theia silver sequined gown. “Orange Is The New Black”’s Taryn Manning pushed the trend further with a stunning gold creation.

Bows

One of the most unexpected Emmys 2020 red carpet trends, bows also made a splash at Nokia Theatre. Allison Williams wore Giambattista Valli Couture with a black bow, 6th time Emmy winner Allison Janney went for a purple dress with a big statement bow, and Cat Deeley opted for a Burberry gown in antique rose with another striking bow.

Cobalt Blue

Not nearly as popular as red, but still making a strong presence on the red carpet, blue ranged from Julia Robert’s Elie Saab dress to Viola Davis’ Escada gown, but cobalt blues made the biggest splash. It was the color of choice for Edie Falco, Mayim Bialik, and Melissa Raunch. “Masters of Sex”’ Keke Palmer also rocked a cobalt blue gown from the Rubin Singer Resort 2020 collection.

Plunging Necklines
