Isabel Lucas lands on the cover of ASOS magazine November 2020. Inside, the 26-year-old Australian actress dishes on fashion, catwalk shows and her favorite designers, but also on writing, the beginnings of her career and how acting helped her come out of her shell. Asked about what item of clothing she would save if her house were on fire, the Aussie beauty told the magazine that, “Well, it wouldn’t be clothing I would save.”

Speaking about fashion, Isabel says that, “I never really paid much attention to fashion growing up. It’s really just colours, or the way that things are woven. This dress [the blue vintage pinafore] I love because I feel like a mama in it. Like I could carry a baby with this dress on. I love lace, too. At Coachella I had a Tigerlily dress, one of those surfy brands, but then I wore a lace top with it from this market in Sidney, a stall called Lucy Lane Vintage.”

The young actress reveals that she likes Australian designer Collette Dinnigan and the eco designer Hannah MacLeod. Isabel admits she is into vintage pieces. “It’s individual vintage pieces I love, but then when Chanel sends you a beautiful skirt, that’s special too,” she told Asos. She also loves writing and says that, “Angus [her boyfriend] is a beautiful writer and that inspires me. I’ve been writing diaries since I was six. Sometimes it’s to get clarity on a certain issue, or to never forget something that I want to savor… Maybe it’s my form of therapy.”

Isabel started her acting career in ‘Home and Away’ as Tasha Andrews. Then, she moved to Hollywood where she’s lived for over three years, but she plans to move back to Australia to live in Byron Bay with her boyfriend, Angus Stone, in a house by the sea.

“I first came to L.A. with the intention of just passing through. I’d been travelling – I spent two months in Africa and was backpacking around Europe with my sister, and I had started to feel hunger to work again after ‘Home and Away’. In a way I’ve been in denial about living in L.A. – I still rent a car and I’ve been here three and a half years! I never felt like I lived here until two years ago, because I was in and out so much. I miss my friends, my family and the nature of Australia, but I’ve liked discovering special little places out here, it’s made me feel more at home. Silver Lake or Beachwood Canyon, sweet little family-run coffee shops,” the actress confessed.

Isabel had small parts in the Steven Spielberg-produced mini-series, ‘The Pacific’, and in ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’. Her latest movie, ‘Immortals’, is a Greek mythological epic, co-starring Freida Pinto and Mickey Rourke. “I like playing smaller characters in films. It’s been feeling right not to have all the weight on me to carry it. That will come along when it makes sense. On a film I did called ‘Daybreakers’, I would go on to the set and spend hours watching Sam Neill and Willem Dafoe,” she told Asos.

The lovely actress says that acting helped her a lot in overcoming shyness. “I was shy when I was young, and I wouldn’t have had the guts to go after it myself. But then I did acting course for a year and ‘Home and Away’ was my first audition. I remember being overwhelmed by the fact people would even see me for an audition. I got booked and it was a big shift. Suddenly I was 18 and moving to Sydney. Acting has helped me come out of my shell. I always thought I was too sensitive but now I know I can channel that for work,” Isabel stated.
