Every true fan must have dreamed at least once to wear the famous leather jacket Michael Jackson had in “Thriller”. Soon it will be possible. Now, after Michael’s death, his brothers, Jermaine, Tito, Jackie and Marlon are launching a fashion line meant to bring tribute to The Jackson 5. Called simply “J5 Collection”, the line features replicas of Jackson’s iconic “Beat It” and “Thriller” leather jackets starting at $600.
It was Jackie Jackson, the eldest brother, who started the work to this collection and later announced his other brothers. “I’ve seen other friends be successful with their lines, like Puffy with Sean John,” said eldest brother Jackie Jackson, who was the driving force behind the project, told Women’s Wear Daily. “I’ve been in this business for a long time and our name is known around the world.”
For spring 2020, besides the memorable jackets, fans can find also t-shirts featuring iconic images of the band throughout their ’60s and ’70s, while for the coming seasons, the collection will also include outerwear, footwear and eyewear. The line for men features short-sleeved crew T-shirts in jersey, short-sleeved V-necks, and long-sleeved raglans with jersey sleeves, while the women line includes raglans with short and long sleeves, racer-back jersey tanks, scoop-neck jersey T-shirts, and jersey crop tees. T-shirts will go for around $32 and $58.
“The jackets are incredible. They are the real thing” said Jackie Jackson. “I didn’t really think of them as tributes to Michael in the beginning, but that’s what they are. They represent everything he stood for and everything he’s done in this industry, 100 percent.”
The J5 Collection will be available in certain stores and retailers such as Urban Outfitters, PacSun, Kitson Men, Revolveclothing.com and 80spurple.com, but also on J5collection.com.
