Lauren Katherine Conrad, or LC as everyone knows her, managed to leave behind her reality TV star image and become a successful designer, best selling author and businesswoman. The 26-year-old beauty is an amazing style inspiration for girls around the world due to her simple yet utterly classy outfits. This time, Lauren gives us a peek into her Chanel-filled closet for The Coveteur.
LC has a rather girly, romantic style and ground-skimming dresses are some of her favorite pieces. “I love maxi dresses and think they are such versatile and romantic pieces. I wore this nude, tiered chiffon dress (from my first collection for paper crown) with a sash to a ball held at the National History Museum. The silk dress on the right I wore for a photoshoot at my home in Laguna. In the center is a vintage nightgown – I love the little details and bias cut of this particular piece,” she says.
Lauren always knows how to dress up even the simplest ensemble. And what better way to do this than by choosing a smart blazer? “I am in love with this blazer from my LC Lauren Conrad collection. I usually pair it with an all black ensemble – it feels so chic to me. I bought this art for the girls because they work so hard and spend long days in that office. When I saw it I thought: this must be exactly what is running through their minds every Friday by 5pm. Get me out of here,” Lauren told The Coveteur.
Lauren’s first two novels, ‘L.A. Candy’ and ‘Sweet Little Lies’ debuted at #1 on The New York Times Best Sellers List. Now, the lovely designer and author has two other books in the works and confesses she loves old books. “I got these shoes from Topshop a couple years ago because I was obsessed with the color. Looking around, it’s pretty evident. I love filling bookshelves with old books. I shop at vintage stores and buy stacks in similar colors,” she says.
Speaking about drawing her inspiration from vintage pieces, Lauren told The Coveteur that, “A perfect example of how I love pulling inspiration from vintage pieces in my work. I collect vintage sleepwear and often look to them for fabrication, details and prints. For this set, I wanted to do a sweet cami and high-waisted short that could be worn together or as separates. I had a specific type of dot in mind for this original print – I first drew out the scale on a post it note.”
Lauren then added that, “As for the wall, I don’t like too much blank space around me and one day decided (after one too many cups of coffee) to tear all the pages out of a book and paste them up there. I like it because when we open the windows the pages flutter and it gives the room movement.”
What about her favorite designer and her style muse? “Phillip Lim is my favorite designer of all time. I like the shoulder detailing on this top because it reminded me of a sea anemone,” the California cutie says. Moreover, she confesses that, “I adore Audrey Hepburn, and have many books about her around my apartment. I stole these sunglasses off one of my guy friends on the 4th of July (shhhhhh) now they are one of my favorite pairs.”
LC admits that one of her darling items is a ring she bought herself. “I bought myself this ring as a gift when my first book made the NY Times Best Seller list. It’s one of my favorite pieces I own. I cut out this note because it spoke to the anti-romantic inside of me – thought it was funny,” she says. Another piece that draws the attention in Lauren’s closet is a small, amazing mirror. “This was a small mirror that was given to me by one of the producers of Laguna Beach and The Hills,” Conrad explains.
Lauren’s obsession? Chanel, of course! “Clearly, I have a fascination with Chanel. I began collecting old perfume bottles a few years back because I thought they were so pretty. The crown is (embarrassingly) from when I was on the homecoming court in high school,” LC told The Coveteur.
