We love to see how the new trends start contouring at London Fashion Week spring 2020, but we can’t help but be fascinated by labels that chose to go against the norm and choose exciting unexpected perspectives. For many labels, boldness will be a key aspect in the new season.
Here are some of the most interesting lines fashionistas who love edgy looks might want to use as inspiration in the upcoming months:
London Fashion Week Spring 2020 Trends: Powerful Women at Tom Ford
The Tom Ford spring 2020 collection was all about boldness. Most designers chose to focus on softer, more romantic accents for the spring summer season, but not Tom Ford, who dedicated his new line to “powerful women” and who brought plenty of interesting updates on the trends we’ve come to love this fall.
The line brought a multitude of chic leather dresses, oversized coats, exciting variations of the biker jacket and a few tuxedo-inspired outfits. However, the designer saved the boldest and the best for last, closing the show with a variety of extravagant multicolored crystal embellished dresses and gowns that would seriously test most fashionistas’ style comfort zone. London Fashion Week Spring 2020 Trends: 90s Goth & Rave Scene at Mark Fast
Mark Fast was another designer who seemed influenced, at least partly, by the fall 2020 trends. He took inspiration from the ’90s goth and rave scene to bring his very own version of the party girl into the spotlight. The line brought a multitude of cropped tops, edgy bandage dresses, chic fringed skirts and bold knits. Gray, black and acid yellow were the tones of choice for the new line, which is sure to appeal to daring fashionistas who crave edginess in every season. London Fashion Week Spring 2020 Trends: Dark Melancholy at Giles
If some designers stay on the tried and tested light, romantic path for spring, others dare to go in the opposite direction: “I had a darker, more melancholy summer in mind — and definitely not flower gardens and pastoral landscapes,” Giles Deacon stated. He brought into the spotlight a myriad of dark silk dresses, several of bat-inspired designs, including eveningwear (he confessed he’s “obsessed with bat swarms”). Though his designs had a feminine allure, the footwear choices were casual and sporty, creating an interesting contrast. View more from the Giles spring 2020 collection
London Fashion Week Spring 2020 Trends: Digital Future at Peter Pilotto
For the spring 2020 season, designers Peter Pilotto and Christopher de Vos focused heavily on multihued, complex digital prints and on chic architectural shapes. The new line brought a multitude of boyish shirts, cropped jackets and a variety of fifties inspired dresses. The spring 2020 presentation brought an incredibly exciting news: the label announced a new partnership with Target for spring 2020 with a teaser video projected on the cement runway. The new Peter Pilotto x Target line will arrive in stores starting with February 9, 2020. If it’s anything like the new line, it will definitely fly off shelves. London Fashion Week Spring 2020 Trends: Nippon Influences at L’Wren Scott
L’Wren Scott looked at the 16th century Japanese culture for inspiration: “What resonates culturally with me about Japanese style is that it is very covered up, but very sensual,” she stated in an interview. The designer took inspiration from the floral motifs and the intricate embroideries she spotted in the Tokio textile museum she visited a while back and included them into several pieces. The shoes, created in collaboration with Brian Atwood were an interesting highlight of the show, as they added an edgy vibe to the new looks, especially at the end when it seemed like a boudoir theme was contoured.
