The Louis Vuitton fall 2020 collection had vintage overload written all over it, however the period that inspired Marc Jacobs, LV’s head of women’s design, was a period in which femininity was accentuated with good taste. No exaggerate proportions, no opulent details and more importantly no more bold pigments, just the elegance and timeless allure of the 20s and 30s was brought to the podium by the esteemed Parisian luxury fashion house and the result: absolutely faultless!
Vintage fashion has managed to spark the creativity of the majority of fashion designers this year and most decided to go back as close to the style’s origin as possible to bring out that fantastic tailoring and those flattering lines that never go out of style, garments that eventually become investment pieces rather than outfits that last a couple of seasons before they’re labeled as outdated and this is exactly the path to style Louis Vuitton took with its latest lineup featured the day before the ending of Paris Fashion Week.
An impressive number of 51 gorgeous outfits were presented and all of them sizzled whether they featured neat-chic, proper lengths and cuts or lingerie-inspired details. The show made its debut with a lovely midnight blue short-blazer deux-piece featuring soft contrasting color floral motifs, a look that is both vintage and contemporary and that will definitely make heads turn!
The coat was awarded the highest amount of attention as it’s become a must have, so don’t be shocked by the array of gorgeous coats ranging from oversized textile/fur long classic coats to hip-length cut and trench-inspired. The variations of fabrics and the mixes of colors, some even featured glitter, got us hooked on the designs and we’d go for either one as all looked amazing regardless if they were leaning more towards casual or luxury!
The wow factor was brought by the lingerie and pajama inspired garments that were paired with chic coats, sweaters or blazers and that looked quite sexy and wearable if we may say so! Although we’re not fans of lingerie designs worn as outer-garments, the lovely display of lacy slip-on inspired dresses, chemises, tops and skirts featured in delicate satin-finish fabric definitely got our attention and raised our interest quite a bit!
A bit more wearable were the velvet gowns that still exuded a bit of boudoir chicness, the sweaters, maxi skirts and glitzy-glam dresses and skirt suits. There was a lot going on in the collection style-wise, but this diversity is meant to help fashionistas find the outfit that’s in their comfort-zone.
