Seeing eclectic, maximalist ensembles is what makes Milan Fashion Week fun and this idea was beautifully reflected once again at the new Milan Fashion Week fall 2020 edition, thanks to the some of the fashion industry’s most beloved maximalists, who aren’t afraid to think outside of the box and challenge fashionistas to rethink their style limits and their comfort zone. Those who feel ready to considerably expand their comfort zone and include a series of statement pieces in their new wardrobe will find plenty of style insights in the fall 2020 collections of these luxury brands:
MFW Fall 2020: Prada Fall 2020 RTW Collection
The Prada fall 2020 collection pays homage to the post-war German culture. The designer, who specializes in bringing striking, eclectic and thought provoking ensembles each season, opted for a darker color palette, but used a variety of interesting motifs, contrasting textures and proportions to make the new looks memorable.
Colorful abstract patterns, Chevron stripes, shearling, fur trims, metallic tones and striking oversized coats were among the main elements that stole the spotlight in the luxury label’s latest show. See the complete Prada fall 2020 collection!
MFW Fall 2020: Moschino Fall 2020 RTW Collection
The Moschino fall 2020 collection marked Jeremy Scott’s debut as the creative director for the brand and brought a multitude of whimsical ensembles with a flamboyant vibe which, in many ways, seemed an ode to advertising. The inspiration behind the playful new line? “Food, fashion, irony, joy, glamour and couture!”, according to the show notes. McDonald’s, Sponge Bob and Frito Lays references, and racy quilted leather suits with golden chain details were among the elements that proved that, in the right hands, fashion can truly be a lot of fun. MFW Fall 2020: Just Cavalli Fall 2020 RTW Collection
“The inestimable value of the Florentine Renaissance’s artistic patrimony” with a contemporary twist was the source of inspiration behind the new Just Cavalli fall 2020 collection. In addition to the brand’s signature animal prints, the designer worked with tapestry prints, architecture-inspired motifs, fur details, brush stroke like patterns, fringes, metallic tones and bold hardware elements. As always, the maximalist looks put forward by the brand felt fresh, youthful and unapologetically edgy. See the complete Just Cavalli 2020 collection!
MFW Fall 2020: Fausto Puglisi Fall 2020 RTW Collection
The Fausto Puglisi fall 2020 collection also radiated freshness and youthfulness, but seemed to have a much more cohesive theme. Pattern-wise, the designer showed a clear preference towards color blocking, geometric motifs, occasional Statue of Liberty representations, eclectic patchwork and well defined proportions. If at times, the options he send down the runway felt flirty and ladylike, at other times the looks exuded edginess and had a conspicuous racy vibe. See the full Fausto Puglisi fall 2020 collection!
MFW Fall 2020: Versace Fall 2020 RTW Collection
The new Versace fall 2020 collection was relatively understated – judging by the label’s standards-, even though there were still plenty of interesting options worth analyzing a little closer. Donatella Versace opted for a feminine approach for the most part and made use of military accents like gold buttons and cool epaulettes to add a hint of edginess to the new ensembles. A cold color palette based on vibrant tones, statement necklaces and pointy toe lace up boots proved the right ingredients for adding a sensual vibe to the new looks.
