The MTV VMAs 2020 held at the Barclays Center New York on Sunday brought many interesting moments and even more interesting outfits. This time, celebs didn’t focus on donning only safe, classy looks.
There were also plenty of edgy alternatives some bold and trendy others… not so much. We’ll let you judge the hits and misses of the night. Here are some of celebrity dresses and outfits that stole the spotlight at the MTV VMAs 2020:
After a significant absence from the spotlight, Lady Gaga chose a fairly subdued look (by her standards) for her VMAs 2020 red carpet appearance. She wore a black custom Prabal Gurung leather gown and chose a matching black wig.
Katy Perry chose a long sleeved leopard printed Ungaro dress which had a sexy thigh-high slit. Since the dress’ design was already complex, the star didn’t chose any overpowering accessories. Instead, she chose a pair of simple black and gold sandals to complete her look.
Ciara was determined to sparkle at this 2020 MTV Music Awards edition if her sheer white sparkly Givenchy gown with feather details is any indication. The star was never one to shy away from showing off her curves or flashing some skin and her beautiful smile showed that she’s completely comfortable in the ultra revealing gown.
Another star who decided to explore a sexy look was Selena Gomez. The star, who normally opts for classy outfits with a modern allure chose to take a risk with a floor-sweeping high slit Atelier Versace gown. She chose pointy toe pumps and green earrings as accessories and opted for sultry red nails for a classy touch.
“I Knew You Were Trouble” singer Taylor Swift channeled ’20s glamour in a sultry Hervé Léger by Max Azria navy dress. Her glamorous faux bob and her red lips made the source of inspiration clear.
Jennifer Hudson decided two experiment with some of fall’s hottest trends and rocked a high waist leather skirt and houndstooth printed top which she matched with classic black pumps.
The VMAs were another occasion for Miley Cyrus to prove that she can’t be tamed as the most modest outfit she sported was a bold cropped top and skin tight leggings. Her twerking moves were the ones that really made the headlines.
Another star who opted for a bold look was Rita Ora, who sparkled (literally) in a sexy Alexander Vauthier gown from the label’s fall 2020 couture collection. Gorgeous black and gold ankle strap sandals complemented her look.
Ellie Goulding walked on the MTV Music Awards 2020 red carpet in an edgy high slit dress adorned with spikes which she cleverly accessorized with simple Brian Atwood platform shoes. Coco Rocha also chose the path of edginess and a gorgeous Fausto Puglisi biker jacket with bold embellishments which she paired with skinny pants and high heels.
Crystal Reed was one of the stars who chose simple yet chic looks. She chose a Zac Posen gown, Oscar Tiye shoes and a printed Valentino clutch. Another interesting look was Holland Roden‘s. She for a Naeem Khan dress/jumpsuit hybrid and sexy Rupert Sanderson heels.
