NYFW Spring 2020: Eclectic and Upbeat Collections

For some designers the New York Fashion Week spring 2020 edition was the perfect occasion to explore their optimistic side and bring a myriad of vibrant, electric pieces into the spotlight. The desire to bring upbeat accents and explore interesting cultural influences was reflected through refreshing stylistic perspectives that uncovered a rather unexpected but fabulous side of the labels’ aesthetic core. If these spring 2020 collections are any indication, we’re in for an exciting and complex style treat for the warm months of 2020:

NYFW Spring 2020 Collection: Rebecca Minkoff

For the spring /summer 2020 season, the designer chose to leave punk influences aside in favor of something a little different. This time, she found inspiration in Mexico and strong Latin American women like Frida Kahlo and Bianca Jagger. The line revolved around modern feminine pieces with a sporty twist. Elaborate floral embroidery, mesh jackets, chic artisanal details, cool knee-high sandals and cutout boots were among the most memorable elements of the star’s show. Perhaps the outfit that best reflected the theme was the whimsical T-shirt with the message “Let’s go to Mexico” paired with an elegant bright yellow dress and a sporty jacket.View more from: Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2020 Collection

A trip to Mexico’s Isla Mujeres (The Island of Women) also proved an excellent stimulus for Christian Siriano’s creativity. Unlike Rebecca Minkoff however, he brought a romantic, feminine allure to his new creations which had a distinguishable formal vibe most of the time, even though there were plenty of outfits which could work for more than one occasion. The designer focused on floral prints, feathers and even raffia woven pieces in cool zigzag patterns, making the new line one of his most wearable yet.View more from: Christian Siriano Spring 2020 Collection

For designer Custo Dalmau, the new line was an occasion to explore the notion of sophistication. However, for the label the concept doesn’t entail complex texture or minimalistic accents. Instead, the designer toned down his usual ultra eclectic motifs, focusing on complex tribal prints instead and brought delicate fabrics for a more elegant allure.View more from: Custo Barcelona Spring 2020 Collection

According to the designer, the new line, titled “Oasis” is a “a mix of quiet calm and joie de vivre.” For DVF, upbeat accents blended modern touches with a youthful vibe. The designer played with safari-inspired prints, eclectic motifs, bold tones and brought even a few metallic accents into the spotlight. Fun variations on the designer’s signature wrap dress, gorgeous maxi skirts and sundresses were some of the new line’s most exciting offerings.View more from: Diane von Furstenberg Spring 2020 Collection
