The Penelope Cruz for Loewe fall 2020 campaign might not be surprising at the first glimpse. After all, the star’s collaboration with the label is far from being new. But, as it often happens, first impressions can be deceiving.
This time, the star isn’t just the pretty face that shows off the label’s hot offerings. Penelope Cruz is also a co-designer for the label’s newest handbag which will be presented later this year. What’s more, she also enlisted the help of her sister, Monica Cruz for the project in order to ensure the new options will have distinguishable Spanish influences.
“We wanted to do something special but also practical, and we wanted the design to have an unmistakable Spanish element”, Penelope stated.
Practical aspects were also on Monica’s mind: “We wanted a bag that would be useful for women who need to carry many things and have them all to hand at the same time.” The new Loewe fall 2020 handbag isn’t the sister’s first such project. Back in 2020, the duo designed a capsule collection for Spanish retailer Mango.
Like an experimented team, the two sisters synchronized perfectly: “We usually like the same things. When we do the design meetings separately, we tend to choose the same materials and colors,” Penelope told WWD.
The new Loewe handbag, designed under the guidance of label’s departing creative director, Stuart Vevers is a cross body bag with outside pockets and comes in a variety of colors and is scheduled to hit the label’s stores worldwide from the 1st of November onward. In addition to the handbag, the new Cruz collection will feature coin purses and zip wallets.
The new Loewe fall 2020 campaign was shot by Alas and Marcus Piggott on the rooftop of the Casino de Madrid. As always, the focus is placed on the elegance and refinement of the new fall 2020 Loewe offerings.
Though the new Loewe ad campaign for fall/winter 2020 feels more like a teaser than a full campaign, it definitely brings enough exciting offerings from fab coats to handbags. If the handbags presented in the latest Loewe campaign resemble the ones from The Cruz collection, fashionistas will definitely be in for a treat. Well, we’ll just have to wait and see.
