PFW Fall 2020 Trends: Extravagant Femininity

PFW Fall 2020 Trends: Extravagant Femininity

A good deal of the collections presented at the Paris Fall 2020 Fashion Week revealed the designers’ desire for experimentation and extravagant luxury with a feminine spin. While for some designers, this meant stepping outside their comfort zones and exploring new ideas, for others, simply finding exciting new ways to highlight the style elements that became their trademarks over the years proved enough. Here are some of the luxury labels which revealed interesting new facets of extravagance for the fall/winter 2020-2020 season:

PFW Fall 2020: Givenchy Fall 2020 RTW Collection

Glamor with a ladylike twist was the concept that defined the Givenchy fall 2020 collection.

Designer Riccardo Tisci decided to celebrate femininity and rock with his new designs and thus adopted a more mature approach by sending down the runway buttoned-up silk blouses, pleated knee length skirts, high waist trousers and masculine inspired jackets, and fur trims. The patterns Tisci brought forward were eclectic yet well defined. Abstract butterflies, snake and leopard motifs were the elements that added an interesting allure to the label’s new creations. Extravagant feminine ensembles with a romantic yet retro vibe were also the focus of the John Galliano fall 2020 collection. Bill Gaytten’s new line revolved around simple, feminine silhouettes and brought a great variety of sultry flared skirts, dark colored jackets, high-waisted pants, fit-and-flare dresses and elbow-length gloves. Though the chromatic palette revolved around rich dark tones, metallic accents and mandarin, rust and blue tones helped lighten up the mood. View all from the John Galliano fall 2020 collection!

The Lanvin fall 2020 collection was based on the idea that fashion should be a dream factory. The concept inspired designer Alber Elbaz to experiment with volume and intriguing fabrics for a whimsical yet extravagant vibe. Among the most interesting elements from the label’s show were frayed tweed pieces, fringed dresses, ruffled skirts or statement hats. Fur coats and leather pieces, along with abstract patterns were other interesting accents the brand prepared for the cold months of 2020. See all from the Lanvin fall 2020 collection!

PFW Fall 2020 Trends: Extravagant Femininity

Though the Dior fall 2020 collection featured plenty of masculine inspired looks, feminine pieces were the line’s most impressive highlights and thus the true stars of the show. At first, Raf Simons brought perfectly tailored coats, fab variations on the luxury fashion houses iconic Bar coat, slim fit pants and chic pantsuits. However, as the show progressed, the designer began presenting stunning cocktail ensembles in bold electric hues and chic ruffled skirts, and even evening dresses with a sporty vibe. While the designer’s new creations honored the luxury label’s spirit, they also highlighted the designer’s style preferences much more clearly than in the past seasons.
