PFW Spring 2020 Trends: Opulence & Femininity

After seeing spring 2020 style alternatives from three style capitals, it was quite hard to belive that the Paris Fashion Week spring 2020 edition would really bring something new, but there were several labels that proved that skeptics were wrong. As far as redefining opulence or bringing a feminine, elegant flair to sportswear-inspired pieces was concerned, the first half of the Paris Fashion Week brought plenty of unique perspectives and several original influences. Here are some of our favorite examples:

Innocence and fragility were the keywords at the Rochas spring 2020 show. For creative director Marco Zanini, fragility is not synonymous with weakness: “It takes a lot of strength to be gentle and kind,” he explained, citing the “The Glass Menagerie” play as inspiration. The idea was translated in a multitude of sweet pastel tones, dainty floral prints and luxurious lamé accents. Who would wear the spring 2020 Rochas designs? Anyone who loves ultra feminine pieces, incurable romantics as well as those who love retro influences. View more from: Rochas spring 2020 collection

Designers Arnaud Maillard and Alvaro Castejon, put an interesting spin on luxury eveningwear. The duo brought an eclectic mix: cool retro accents and modern, simple shapes. Chic strapless gowns, elegant jumpsuits or long sleeved floor length dresses with strategic sheer panels are some of the coolest new alternatives spotted in the new line. Sultry and elegant, these alternatives can work for both those who are craving a classy, elegant allure and for those who love making a strong statement and don’t shy away from ultra sexy alternatives. There’s no doubt about it: the Azzaro girl steals the spotlight everywhere she goes. She’s a true diva! View more from: Azzaro spring 2020 collection

Alexander Wang definitely put his mark on the new Balenciaga collection. He went back to his recognizable sportswear-based roots while still keeping the label’s distinguishable style trademark: “I wanted to… take this season to really start putting some footprint into it, making it relatable to what I thought was important and bringing some of my vocabulary of sportswear into it,” he stated. The result was an interesting one: masculine accents brought through cool modern jackets and loose trousers and feminine alternatives brought  through modern abstract prints and sultry, elegant short dresses.
