Paris Fashion Week marked the ending of an era, with Jean Paul Gaultier announcing that the Spring 2020 season was his last for ready-to-wear. Looking forward to the latest trends, designers showcased similar ideas in Paris as they did in New York, London and Milan, but with a sophisticated twist.

Wide Leg Pants
While flares were also a staple on the New York Fashion Week runway, designers showcased flared pants in Paris as well, but the highlight when it comes to pants was the wide leg.
Balmain, Chloé and Chanel were leading the pack when it comes to wide legs, using a wide array of fabrics, from denim and tweed to leather.
Sheer Fabrics
Either mesh or transparent fabrics are definitely one of the top Spring 2020 trends from Paris Fashion Week. Layering the sheer fabrics was a key look for many designers, showing skin without going too far. Valentino, Rick Owens, Vionnet, and Corrie Nielsen really went for it on the Parisian runways, featuring plenty of wearable and flirty looks with sheer fabrics.
Hippie Retro
Just like in London, New York and Milan, hippie trends were featured on the runway, but mostly focused on the ‘70s rather than the ‘60s. The mainstream hippie look features print dresses, jumpsuits and plunging necklines. Giambattista Valli, Elie Saab, Corrie Nielsen, and Valentino rocked this trend in Paris, and many paired the retro vibe with gladiator sandals.
Yellow
While white and off white made a big splash at the previous Fashion Week shows, yellow is clearly one of the biggest Spring 2020 trends from Paris Fashion Week. Either bold or pastel, yellow was seen on the runway during collections from Phillip Lim, Emanuel Ungaro, Carven, and Carolina Herrera. Whether you prefer a more subtle yellow or a bright pop of color, you’ll easily be able to work this color into your Spring/Summer 2020 looks.
Practicality
Normcore avoided the Paris runways, but many designers are certainly exploring the opposite end of the spectrum from unpractical excess. While ready to wear collections always touch on practical aspects, this year Céline and Chloé have pushed the envelope towards normcore with hoodies, big pockets, and other pieces with a practical simplicity.

Long Hair
Paired with the retro ‘70s vibe, very long hair is also one of the Spring 2020 trends from Paris Fashion Week. Balenciaga, Givenchy, and Louis Vuitton have definitely pushed in the opposite direction from the crop and chopped cuts that were the big thing on the runway for the past few years. With or without extensions, models showed long and flowy tresses in Paris.
Graphic Black Eyeliner
From dramatic smoky eyes to chic cat eyes, black eyeliner is the top makeup accessory of the season. Collections from Givenchy, Saint Laurent, Julien David, Sonia Rykiel, and Ann Demeulemeester all featured strong graphic black looks created with pencil eyeliners.
Half-Back Hair
Going along with the long hair trend, half-back hair was featured on the runway during collections from Miu Miu, Céline and Carven. From a schoolgirl vibe to a more slick and sexy look, half-back hair is turning out to be one of the top Spring 2020 trends from Paris Fashion Week.
Gold
Makeup, hair and accessories shine this season with a lot of gold. If you want to add a touch of gold to your hair, you can opt for the delicate hair clasps (Guy Laroche) to big combs (Lanvin) and more sophisticated golden hair accessories (Valentino). If a touch of gold in your hair isn’t enough for the dramatic look you want, take a cue from Dries Van Noten and bring the golden trend to your lips.
Natural Hair Texture
While neutral makeup was a big deal in London, Milan and New York, the natural look was reserved for the hair in Paris. One of the big Spring 2020 trends from Paris Fashion Week is natural hair texture, natural waves and curls seen on the runway at Chanel, Dior and Chloé.
