The Stéphane Rolland couture spring 2020 collection brought stunning futuristic creations that packed a lot of attitude. The show grabbed the attention of Paz de la Vega and Kim Kardashian, who were both impressed by the dramatic shapes and hues that defined the new line. It became clear from the very beginning that the new line catered to a select clientele that isn’t afraid to take fashion risks and thrives in the spotlight. The pieces have a strong architectural component, featuring striking proportions and bold, exaggerated details.
Despite this, the creations comprised in the spring 2020 Stéphane Rolland couture collection have a surprisingly minimalist vibe as aside form the strong proportional contrasts, which instantly steal the spotlight, most of the new options had relatively few embellishments. The designer went for a well defined color palette of bold yellow, orange, dark blue and black and showed a clear preference for monochrome looks, although it seemed like the tone has changed a bit at the end of the show.
The designer experimented with bold cutouts, daring sheer panels, bold capes, daring varnished leather accents and even variations on peplum, with a futuristic vibe, of course. Every single look from the new Stéphane Rolland couture collection for spring 2020 was meant to “challenge the limits of space” and this is exactly the effect the breathtaking creations had. They brought seemingly contradictory notions together. Elegance was mixed with edginess, provocative sexy ensembles had surprisingly minimalist vibes and every single look embodying these characteristics had something that made the audience afraid to blink and miss out on the next gorgeous creation.
The Stéphane Rolland spring 2020 couture show ended even more forcefully than it began, with a futuristic bridal gown with stunning architectural details that made both actress Paz Vega and future bride Kim Kardashian give standing ovations. Could we be seeing Kim in a Stéphane Rolland creation on the big day? Well, only time will tell.
