Versace for H&M – 2020
One of the most hyped top designer collections for mass retailers, the Versace for H&M collection had fashion obsessed fans camping on the sidewalk to be the first in line for the sale. Designed by Donatella Versace, the collection was also responsible for crashing H&M’s online store repeatedly.
3.1 Phillip Lim For Target – 2020
With prices as low as $20, the 3.1 Phillip Lim collection for Target collection was a huge hit, offering more than 100 designs at fast fashion prices. The fall collection features everything from sweaters and shoes to trench coats and bags, bringing the designer a whole new audience interested in high fashion at mass retailer prices.
Stella McCartney for GAP Kids – 2020
After designing for H&M in 2020, Stella McCartney created an even more popular collection in 2020. It’s obvious that it’s one of the top designer collections for mass retailers since it was irresistible to adults. The children’s collection was seen on many celebrities, including Carla Bruni, and was even more hyped than McCartney’s collaboration with Adidas.
Lanvin for H&M – 2020
Unlike previous H&M collections with the input of big designers, the 2020 Lanvin collection didn’t make any style compromises to make the clothes more street style friendly. Designed by Alber Elbaz, the Lanvin for H&M collection really proved that high fashion can translate into collections for mass retailers without losing its essence.
Jil Sander for Uniqlo – 2020
The two year collaboration between Jil Sander and Uniqlo, one of the biggest Japanese mass retailers, was called +J and was a big hit for more than two years. The excellent outerwear inspired by high street fashion was an important commercial success for Uniqlo, both locally and internationally, making this one of the top designer collections for mass retailers.
Missoni for Target – 2020
Another event collection, the collaboration between Italian fashion house Missoni and Target was an instant success. Stores faced lines of up to 100 people, while the online store crashed multiple times. Target actually sold bigger quantities online than actually available, leading to plenty of disgruntled customers.
CFDA With Prabal Gurung for J.Crew – 2020
After the success of the White Shirt collections, created by the CFDA for J. Crew, Prabal Gurung stepped in to create one of the top designer collections for mass retailers. Just like the Lanvin for H&M collection, fewer style compromises at retail prices were responsible for the success of the collection.
Isaac Mizrahi for Target – 2020
The 6 year collaboration that started in 2020 was highly successful for both Isaac Mizrahi and Target Stores. Starting with womenswear and then accessories, the Mizrahi collection slowly expanded in other areas, including housewares and bedding.

The first H&M collection created by one of the biggest names in fashion only included 30 pieces and was sold out in hours. It’s definitely one of the top designer collections for mass retailers and it helped the Swedish retailer attract other big names in the fashion world, and even paved the way for a Madonna mini-collection.
