Without any medical or nutritional training, Tim Ferriss has experimented on his own body to come up with the 4-Hour Body Diet, based on slow-carbs and a lot of dietary restrictions.
The Four Hour Body is based around 5 simple rules, but it includes more restrictions than many traditional low-carb diets.
1. Avoid “white” starchy carbohydrates
2. Eat the same few meals over and over again
3. Don’t drink calories
4. Don’t eat fruit
5. Take one day off per week
4-Hour Body Diet Pros
Even though most nutritionists are wary about large parts of the advice offered in the Four Hour Diet book, restricting white carbs is generally considered a good idea for dieting.
Another plus is the fact that the diet takes into account both exercise and sleep as important factors whic can help you lose weight.
Unlike most diets, the 4 Hour Body allows up to 2 glasses of red wine each day, but it also restricts plenty of vegetables, fruits and dairy (except cottage cheese).

4-Hour Body Diet Cons
Some of the outlandish claims in the book add to the diet’s list of cons. Lack of strategy is a big problem and some of the advice makes this diet extremely hard to follow by most casual dieters.
Techniques like the ice cold water bath can even become dangerous for dieters who try to experiment with every tip in the book.
The 4-Hour Body Diet tries too hard to cover a lot of ground, according to professional reviewers, and ends up offering contradicting information. From “Improving Sex” and the controversial “15 minute orgasm” to “Reversing Injuries” and “Getting Stronger”, the book’s chapters look very little like most diets, approved and recommended by nutritionists.
Following the 4-Hour Body dietary restrictions for too long can lead to vitamin and mineral deficiencies according to doctors. The fact that most of the book is based on self-experimentation is another reason why the Four Hour Body may work for some, but it probably won’t for most.
