Bidalasana (Cat Pose) – How To Do And Its Benefits

How To Do It:

Since Bidalasana is a relatively easy posture to be performed, beginners can try their hands at it too. Begin by using a mat or a blanket and keeping your hands directly beneath the shoulders on it. Also, bend your knees and keep them directly beneath your hips. Spread your fingers facing forward. Now take a deep breath and while you exhale slowly, pull your abdominal muscles backwards towards the spine. Contract your gluteus slowly while tucking the tailbone down and under.

Firm your hands on the ground which in result in taking the pressure off your shoulders. Round your back upwards as the middle of your back presses toward the ceiling. Now curl your head down and push it inwards. Gaze at the floor concentrating between your knees. Your chin should not be forced to your chest. Repeat the process 15 to 20 times. Inhale and exhale slowly as you do so. While releasing, sit backwards on your heels. Your torso should be upright. Hold the pose 30 seconds to a minute. Focus on your breathing.
