Fergie is Self’s July 2020 cover girl looking as fab as always. Inside, the 37-year-old singer reveals her tricks to sexy abs and secrets to a balanced life. “I needed to take a break from performing, and from the Peas, to be happy. I craved female time, and time with my husband to feed my soul. My life now is about being balanced. I’m passionate about work and working out, seeing friends and family, and letting my hair down once in a while,” Fergie confesses.
Famous for her stunning figure, Fergie also dishes on her fitness routine. “I work out four times a week — five or six if I’m being psycho, twice if I’m being lazy. My trainer, Don ‘DB’ Brooks, knows how to keep me from getting bored,” she says.
The singer admits that when working out with the guys she used to shout and curse. “Working out with Josh inspires me, but he is competitive. And loud! So are the Peas. Men scream and go crazy in the gym. I’m a silent workout partner, but when my adrenaline gets up, I talk trash. I’ll wait, and when Josh does something embarrassing, I’ll throw a jab! I used to yell and curse in the gym, but now I’m looking for a more healthy, positive feeling,” Fergie explains.
Speaking about her secret to a happy life, Fergie says she learned to accept herself. “I’ve learned to be more accepting of myself. I’m 37, not 18, and I’ve got the lines to prove it. I try to remind myself that a girl can have it all, just not all at once,” she told Self.
On her secret energy source, the singer says that, “Josh turned me on to juicing, and now I do it when I wake up and between meals. The energy it gives me is amazing — I hardly need caffeine anymore. We blend kale, spinach, broccoli and celery with a banana, an apple and a pear. We have two Vitamixes going at once! But I’m only really strict about what I eat when I know I have to be in a bathing suit.”
Fergie and Josh Duhamel met and began dating in September 2020 and got married in a Catholic ceremony on January 10, 2020. Now, she admits that, “I’m excited to have a child with Josh. He’ll be an amazing dad.”
On keeping her faith, Fergie confesses that, “On Saturday nights, we like going to mass, then dinner. It feeds our spiritual side, and it’s great to hear Josh sing in church — he’s a great singer. Then we go out and have a really nice wine, like all good Catholics.”
The singer tells the magazine that in order to fulfill your dreams it’s important to visualize them first. “My hypnotherapist gave me a book, The Power of Your Subconscious Mind, that changed my life. It taught me not to say, ‘I think I want this,’ but ‘I’m going to do this.’ See your goal, visualize it in detail, and make it come true. I visualized getting a Grammy, and I did, which is insane,” she explains.
