It’s almost impossible not to get sick this time of the year. And when you do, you’re heading to the drugstore to buy pills that will alleviate your condition. Food is also important, so we’ve gathered some great and tasty flu fighting foods that you’ll enjoy.
Flu Fighting Recipes
Chicken Noodle Soup
This is probably one of the most common flu fighting foods. It’s very easy to prepare and it tastes heavenly. Plus, it only takes about 35 minutes to cook!
Ingredients: 1 tablespoon of olive oil, 1 tablespoon of butter, 1 medium onion diced, 1 cup of mushrooms, sliced, 1 cup of carrots (peeled and sliced), 3 stalks of celery, 3 cups of chicken meat (chopped into small bits), a handful of parsley and a pinch of salt and pepper.
Melt the butter with olive oil at a medium low heat. Afterwards, add the carrots, celery, onion and the mushrooms with a pinch of salt and pepper and let the vegetables cook for about 10 minutes. Then, add the chicken and start boiling. Add the noodles and cook for about 9 minutes. In the end, add the parsley and that’s it!

Penne With Tuna, Basil And Lemon
This is a very easy recipe that you can prepare in 45 minutes.
Servings: 2
Ingredients: ½ pound of penne, 1 garlic clove, 1 lemon, a 6-ounce can tuna in olive oil and ¼ cup of fresh basil leaves.
Start boiling the penne in a pot filled 3 fourths with salted water. Then, mince the garlic. Afterwards, grate enough lemon to measure 1 tablespoon and squeeze 1 teaspoon of juice. Cut the basil into thin strips and in a large bowl add garlic, zest, juice, basil and tuna with oil.
You should boil the penne until they are al dente and then drain. Add them to the bowl, toss some salt and pepper and you’re good to go.

Strawberry Mousse
You can include this lovely treat among the flu fighting drinks and desserts.
Ingredients: 1 quart of fresh strawberries, ½ cup boiling water, 1 pack of 4 serving size strawberry gelatin, ¼ sugar, 2 cups of ice cream and some whole strawberries and whipped cream for garnish.
First, wash the fruits and cut them in half. Add them to the blender and blend until smooth. Start boiling water over gelatin and sugar until they dissolve. Pour the strawberry mixture into the gelatin and stir until they combine. You should add some whipped cream after this mixture reaches room temperature. In the end, refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
