Tokyo Fashion Week, also known as the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo or Japan Fashion Week, featured plenty of fashion-forward collections for the Fall/Winter 2020/2020 season. From local designers to London-based designers, a few collections truly stood out.

Ariunaa Suri
After working as a Creative Designer in Berlin, Mongolian designer Ariunna Suri brought minimalism through her nomadic ethic theme at Japan Fashion Week.
From organic fabrics in soft hues to treated leathers and plenty of neutrals, Ariunaa Suri impressed through her restraint, along with attention to detail in the new collection.
Sretsis
Thailand-based Stretsis has had a lot of success with many celebrities thanks to its funky and offbeat style, but their newest line was one of Tokyo Fashion Week Fall 2020’s best collections. With very feminine lines, the girly designs showed enough edge to attract a lot of attention thanks to their statement collars and cheerleading uniforms.
Jotaro Saito
After being in the business of kimono design for over 20 years, Jotaro Saito showed off a fall collection that can really help bring back kimonos, at least in Japan. With colorful prints and attention-grabbing accessories, Jotaro Saito managed to give kimonos a cool contemporary vibe, and his “Power of Flower” collection impressed fashion critics.
Johan Ku
Going into the business at the age of 17, London-based designer Johan Ku has a very distinct style. Mixing extreme chunky knitwear with sculptural silhouettes, he creates truly unique looks and his “Pan’s Labyrinth” collection was definitely one of Tokyo Fashion Week Fall 2020’s best collections. With contrasting textures and abstract prints, he created a truly edgy collection.
A Degree Fahrenheit
Japanese designer Yu Amatsu, the creative force behind A Degree Fahrenheit, didn’t disappoint at Japan Fashion Week 2020. His attention to detail and passionate silhouettes amounted to a very elegant collection, with an exclusive edge. His jumpsuits and belted dresses were the highlight of the fall runway show.
In Process by Hall Ohara
After a great debut in 2020 at London fashion week, Steven Hall and Yurika Ohara managed to deliver one of the best collections at Tokyo Fashion Week Fall 2020. The London based-duo impressed with their innovative prints and knitwear. Inspired by fantasy, the new In Process collection went for prints of trees and flowers and colorful zigzag patterns.
Atsushi Nakashima
After making his debut at the Mercedes-Benz Tokyo Fashion Week in 2020, Nakashima impressed this year with his avantgarde looks. The daring designs from Jean Paul Gaultier’s former assistant were truly inspired at the runway show, mixing geometric patterns with a strong contrast between blue and red.
Somarta
In the brand’s 7th year at the Japanese fashion event, Somarta delivered one of Tokyo Fashion Week Fall 2020’s best collections. With plenty of separates and cool layering, the newest collection by designer Tamae Hirokawa showed off a knack for construction, along with great ideas when it comes to colors, that include greens and oranges.
Facetasm
A featured designer at Tokyo Fashion Week this season, Hiromichi Ochiai is hugely popular in Japan and his ready-to-wear collection for fall 2020 impressed with plenty of glam. Intricate detailing and cool fringe elements mixes together in the new collection. While most of the collection features black and white, along with grey, some pop of colors, like yellow gave it a cool edge.
Diane von Furstenberg
The big international designer that participated at the style event also delivered one of the best collection at Tokyo Fashion Week Fall 2020. Entitled “Bohemiam Wrapsody”, the collection was created around the concept of a glamorous vagabond and featured exquisite wrap dresses. The geometrical prints and cool jackets were big highlights during the runway show.
