A beautiful district nestled in Shanghai, it is on the Huangpu River (east), which now is one of the most important places for trade and commerce in China. Why is this place so important as a tourist hub? Walk down or take an aerial shot of this place and you would be surrounded by one of kind skyscrapers. It is to be remembered that this area was once a farmland. Just two decades back, when farmers tilled the soil here for sustenance, today the same region houses the famous symbol, the Oriental Pearl Tower. Apart from that, Pudong houses the esteemed Shanghai World Financial Center and the famous Jin Mao Building, lets not forget this area also is thronged by tourists visiting the Shanghai Tower (under construction)

Mogao Caves:

When you walk into the 15.5 miles of the Mogao caves, which is at Dunhuang (south east), be prepared to be immersed in splendor. Most call this region an oasis which is located at the cross roads (Silk Road). Lovers of ancient Buddhist tradition would love this place, since it has the best and the finest carvings of the Buddha. It is said that in 366 AD is when the art and scriptures were stored here, the shrines were built then. In addition to that, the region has two famous grottoes, Longmen and Yungang.

Leshan Giant Buddha:

Leshan is home to the gigantic Buddha, a statue which has been carved out on the cliff of Sichuan, based in west China. Historians say that the carving began when the Tang dynasty was in power, somewhere around 713 AD, and it was only by the end of 803 AD when the carving was completed in full. The giant Buddha stands around 233 feet high and has resting hands which are 11 feet long!!

Mount Huang:

Mount Huang is on the eastern range of China and also is known as the famous Yellow Mountain. Breathtaking views welcome the traveler, with flora and fauna that soothes the eyes. a long line of pine trees and granite peaks, clouds soaring above and the shrills of natures, this is what the Yellow Mountain brings to you. Historians say, in the ancient days there were around 60,000 stone carved steps on this mountain. These days one can use cable cars to ride from one base or summit to another.

The armies of Qin Shi Huang beckon your presence and ask you to pay respect to the 1st king of China too. The Terracotta Army, is one of the must visits and a very popular attraction across the nation, located in Xian. They say the hot spot is of three pits which has around 8000 soldiers. There are even 130 chariots along with 150 cavalry horses, all made from terracotta, of which most are still deep buried in the pits even now.

Victoria Harbour:

Get to HongKong and visit the famous Victoria Harbour, also known as one of the best container ports of the globe. From the harbor, you would find a long line of skyscrapers along with the majestic view of the Tsim Sha Tsui shoreline. One of the busiest places or harbors to be at, it houses speed boats, ferries and junks all across the shore.

Forbidden City:

Can we forget the mentioning of the mysterious Forbidden City? Well no we cannot, and since we are in Beijing, why not travel the length and breadth of this ancient city. The Forbidden City came about from 1406-1420, and the palace which is a huge complex has around 980 buildings today. There are around 8707 rooms, a 20ft deep moat and 33ft high wall, keeping the city protected from all sides and inside out.

Potala Palace:

Above 130 meters from the famous Lhasa Valley, the Potala Palace rests and is a welcoming place to be. It is known to be an ancient architectural feat, in all of the region and now is a famous torusit hot spot. This used to also be a place of stay for His Holiness- the Dalai Lama, before he made way to India after Tibet was Invaded by the Chinese in the year 159

The Great Wall of China:

We have studied and read, watched on television and searched online, but now we must visit the famous “Great Wall Of China”. Right from the 5th century, the wall was built and re-built and up to the 16th century, it was known to be a protector of the northern borders of the empire. Historians credit the Ming Dynasty for the many walls it built, and it is said that the great wall can be seen from outer space too.
